Research Development

Project Objectives

1. To establish private/public sector nurseries for production of quality planting material
2. To diversify niche crops cultivation in potential areas for socio-economic gains in UT of
J&K
3. To establish processing/grading and handling units and link them with FPO’s/IIKSTC for
brand / export promotion
4. Seeking of GI Tag for Niche crops
5. Skill /capacity development of unemployed youth / farmers for bridging the missing links
of production, protection and postharvest value chain of niche crops

1. Collection, evaluation and conservation of germplasm
2. Standardization of Production Technology of Niche Crops and their demonstration
3. Devising package of practices for Shallot
4. Development of markers & seeking of GI Tag
5. Conduct of OFT's on Shallot
